
The Creative Bridges 2008 Lecture Series comes to a close with Colin Ives' presentation on May 29. Hailing from an interactive art background, Ives examines humanity's interaction with our surroundings through multimedia art. A true interdisciplinary creative, Colin Ives' conceptions demonstrate a blended hybrid of art, technology, and ecology to recreate environmental sensory experiences.
In his lecture, Ives will discuss his creative approach to the observation of humanity's impact upon their environment, through both natural and manmade means. Through the use of sound, video capture, and digital projection, Ives will present his examination and explanation of the limitless inspiration found in our interaction with our surroundings.
Ives' work has been featured in respected national and international exhibits such as the 13th International Symposium of Electronic Art, PDX Film Fest, and The Tool as Art. He holds two Masters Degrees in Intermedia and Video from the University of Iowa and has taught at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He currently is the Director of Art of the Digital Arts program at the University of Oregon.
